Learning about history really makes you feel for all the nameless and silenced that never made it into the history books because “someone” didn’t believe them “worthy” enough. Think about all of history and then think about the vast swathes that we have no records for because “someone” decided something wasn’t what “the people” “should” believe… you’ll start to understand the deafening silence that exists in our past. We are not the keepers of history, we do not record truth, we destroy it as we write our own versions. Learn from our past? Sadly, most don’t even know what really happened! I’m happy to say I am not one of them and that I quite enjoy learning about the past rather than just accepting what I am told. I’m glad that these people and their contributions are not all completely forgotten and that many are rediscovering the truth. I only wish more would.
My week 50 “Redstone Mountains” entry for the Twisted Color Challenge. This photo is late due to a death in the family.
