Coupon Savings are Awesome

I stopped in at CVS, Rite Aid, and Walgreens yesterday and had a savings of about 70%! I spent $97.77 and saved $235.84! Click below to see all the details! (warning, it’s quite long)

CVS: Spent: $52.74, Saved: $86.71

I did two transactions with this one so I could use the ECB’s (extra care bucks or money back they give you for buying a certain amount or a certain item) from the first to save on the second. The first one included:

3 Bags of Dove Chocolates: $3 each = $9, I had a $1 off coupon for each one = $6
2 Dove Chocolate bars: $1.50 each = $3, I had a $.75 off coupon for two = $2.25
4 Travel Size Bottles of Nivea Bodywash: on clearance for $.29 each = $1.16
1 Speed Stick Stainguard Deodorant: $2.99, I had a $.50 off coupon = $2.49
1 Box Band-Aid Brand Bandages AND 1 Neosporin Ointment: $3.79 and $5.49 = $9.28, I had a $1.50 coupon when I bought one of each brand = $7.78
2 Herbal Essences Conditioners: $2.99 and $2.98 = $5.97, I had a $1 off coupon for each one = $3.97

I got $3 ECB back for spending over $10 (before coupons) on the chocolate, $2 ECB back on the deodorant, $3 ECB back on the bandages and/or neosporin, and $2 ECB back on the 2 Herbal Essences Conditioners = $10 ECB total.

Total for 1st Transaction: $23.65 + $1.16 tax = $24.81 for all 14 items and a total savings on this transaction of $22.31, or just under 50%.

My second one didn’t go as smoothly because the manager working that day apparently doesn’t know how to adjust prices in her registers even though I know they have done it for me before with the exact same items and coupons! Because of her I ended up paying something like $5 more than I should have! So annoying! But anyways, Physicians Formula concealers, foundations and powders were all $6 off and the Neutrogena foundations and powders were all marked down to $9.99:

2 Physicians Formula Twin Concealer Sticks (1 yellow, 1 green): $2.39 each on sale = $4.78
2 Physicians Formula 3-Piece Corrective Concealer Set (1 yellow, 1 green): $3.49 each on sale = $6.98
1 Physicians Formula Green Concealer: $3.49 on sale
2 Neutrogena Liquid Foundation Bottles: $9.99 on sale = $19.98
1 Neutrogena Brightening Eye Perfecter: $9.99 on sale

The total before coupons was 45.22 and then I used the $10 in ECB’s from the first order to bring the total down to $35.22. Now I had $5 off coupons for each Physician’s Formula product I bought (which, if the store included overage, would have made the total $10.22 :P) and the last time I was there the cashier had just adjusted the price to deduct the remaining cost of the product, but as I said the manager this time was an idiot so she only let me do 1 coupon per each 2 items which meant only $10 (rather than the $15.25 it should have been!). So that brought the total with coupons too:

Total for 2nd Transaction: $25.22 + $2.71 tax = $27.93 for all 8 items and a total savings on this transaction of $64.40, or about 70%.

Total for CVS: $52.74 for all 22 items and a total savings of $86.71, or 62%. This was my most expensive trip because it included make-up which is always expensive 😛

Rite Aid: Spent: $28.34, Saved: $80.11

I did three transactions at Rite Aid to use the +UP’s (same as ECB’s) on each next purchase and this trip was my favorite cause the cashier was total awesome 😀 Anyway, the first only had:

2 L’Oreal Magic Perfecting Bases: on sale for 30% off which made them $9.06 each and I had a coupon for $2 off each one or $4 = $14.12
1 L’Oreal Infallible Lip Gloss: on sale for 30% off which made it $6.99 and I had a coupon for $2 off = $4.99

I spent $25.11 before coupons and the store was running a sale that if you spent $25 on L’Oreal than you got $10 back in +UP’s.

Total for 1st Transaction: $19.11 + $1.51 tax = $20.62 for all 3 items and a total savings on this transaction of $16.78, or about 44%. Not the best, but the +UP’s pay for it later.

The second transaction consisted of:

2 Scrubbing Bubbles Bathroom Cleaners: on sale 2/$4 and I had a coupon for $1 off 2 = $3.00
2 Oral B Toothbrushes: on sale for $2.99 each and I had a coupon for $1.50 off each = $2.98
1 Colgate Toothbrush: on sale for $2.99 and I had a coupon for $.75 off = $2.24
1 Sure Deodorant: on sale for $1.49 and I had a coupon for $1 off = $.49
1 Covergirl Tinted Lip Balm: $5.99 and I had a coupon for $1 off = $4.99

I got $1 +UP for buying 2 Scrubbing Bubbles and $2 +UP on each toothbrush so $6 total, which means I got $7 in +UP’s back on this one.

Total for 2nd Transaction: The total was $13.70 but I used my $10 +UP from my first transaction to bring it down to $3.70 + $1.23 tax = $4.93 (basically I just paid for the Covergirl Lip Balm and it would have all been free had I not gotten that!) for all 7 items and a total savings on this transaction of $27.23, or 85%.

The last transaction:

5 50oz Bottles of Purex Laundry Detergent: on sale for $1.97 and I had a coupon for $1 off each = $4.85
1 Nivea Body Lotion: on sale for $5.99 and I had a coupon for $2 off = $3.99

Total for 3rd Transaction: The total was $8.84 but I used my $7 +UP’s from the last transaction to bring it down to $1.84 + $.95 tax = $2.79 for all 6 items and a total savings on this transaction of $36.10, or about 92%! (told you those +UP’s would make up for it later!)

Total for Rite Aid: $28.34 for all 16 items and a total savings of $80.11, or about 74%.

Walgreens: Spent: $16.69, Saved: $69.02

I did two transactions at Walgreens. The first went smoothly and contained:

2 Garnier Fructis (1 shampoo which came with a free hairspray sample, 1 conditioner): $5.49 each and I had a $1 off coupon for each = $8.98
6 Gillette Products (3 Body Washes, 3 Deodorants): the body washes were on sale 3/$10 and I had 3 coupons where if you bought a body wash you got a deodorant free, I also had 2 $2 off coupons for 2 of the body washes and the deodorants where buy 1, get one 50% off = $3.50

I got $5 in RR’s (Register Rewards = same as ECB’s) for buying 2 Garnier Fructis products and $3 RR’s for buying 3 Gillette body washes so a total of $8 back.

Total for 1st Transaction: $12.48 + $2.01 tax = $14.49 for all 8 items and a total savings on this transaction of $28.44, or 66%.

The second transaction went fine as well but I confused the cashier with certain coupons yet the manager came over and was totally cool about it 😀

6 Bags of Candy (2 Skittles, 2 Starburst, 2 Lifesavers): 2.29 each on sale for buy 1 get 1 free = $6.87
3 Items for Smores (1 each Honey Made Grahams, Hershey’s Bars 6 pk., and Kraft Marshmallows): the Grahams where $3.99 and Hersey Bars were on sale for $3.01 and I got the Marshmallows free if I got both the Grahams and the Bars, plus I had a coupon for a $1 off if I got all three = $6
9 Rolls of Scotch magic Tape: originally $1.99 each, I had a store coupon which said buy 1 at $1.99 and get 2 free, limit 3 (I thought it meant 3 groups but the manager said it actually meant 3 items but he let me use it for 3 groups anyways). I also had 9 coupons for $1 off each of the 9 tapes that I bought = I earned overage of 3.03 on this one (overage is when the total coupon amount is more than what you spent so it gets taken off something else)!

Total for 2nd Transaction: The total was $9.84 but I used my $8 RR’s from the last transaction to bring it down to $1.84 + $.36 tax = $2.20 for all 18 items and a total savings on this transaction of $40.58, or about 95%!

Total for Walgreens: $16.69 for all 26 items and a total savings of $69.02, or about 81%.

Total for the whole shopping spree: I spent $97.77 for all 56 items and saved $235.84, a savings of about 70%.
