So, I’m really behind on my music charts… like a few months behind. I’m behind on lot of things, but anyways… >.< Because of that, I decided to make this SMILE completely random and just included whatever song I landed on ^^ Enjoy!
Ella Henderson‘s Ghost (lyrics) came up first, and I have to say, I’m only half in love with this song. The chorus is amazing, but the rest is just so-so. I don’t know, it’s kind of like two songs stuck together in some places :/ Either way, this was her first single, and I look forward to seeing more from her in the future.
Epik High‘s Born Hater (lyrics)(Korean)(warning: explicit) came in second. If you’re into hip-hop/rap and looking to get to know artists from around the globe, this song is definitely for you. It features a total of seven Korean rappers, including my personally favorite: Tablo (first up in the MV). And, even if you don’t like the rapping, DJ Tukutz delivers (yet again) with an amazing beat.
In third place is Leah McFall‘s Home ft. Will.i.am (lyrics). While the music video and Leah’s fashion sense are not for me (to each their own), I like this song quite a bit. The Will.i.am verse was a little cheesy (he looked so disinterested lol), but her voice reminds me a bit of Katy Perry.
Faun‘s Walpurgisnacht (lyrics)(German), in fourth, takes us down an entirely new musical path. This is medieval sounds and pagan imagery at it’s best. Even if this kind of music isn’t your thing, the music video is worth a watch simply for the beautiful imagery.
Fifth and last for this week is Eleni Foureira‘s Anemos Agapis (lyrics)(Greek). I really managed to pick a bunch of different songs didn’t I ^^ Anyways, this is another visually stunning music video. It works really well with the song and delivers an emotional punch even if you don’t understand the lyrics.
Well, that’s it for this week! If you have any suggestions for future SMILEs, please leave a comment below!
